FAQs

Questions people actually ask

Is Sorty therapy?+

No. Sorty offers self-guided support — structured tools, guided exercises, and a companion that helps you untangle what you're carrying. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or crisis care, and it can't diagnose or treat anything. It works well alongside therapy: you can prepare a summary of your last two weeks and take it into a session.

Is my data private?+

Yes — private by default, encrypted in transit and at rest. Only you can see your entries, enforced at the database rather than just in the app. Sharing with a supporter isn't switched on yet, so nothing leaves your account at all right now. You can export everything or delete your account and data at any time.

Can I be anonymous in Community?+

Yes, and anonymous is the default. You choose per post and per reply whether to appear as Anonymous or under a display name you pick. Your display name is never your email, and nothing links your community activity to your private loads or journal.

What can the AI companion do?+

It listens, helps you untangle a messy dump into separate loads, walks you through exercises, sets reminders, answers questions about how the app works, and gently surfaces patterns it notices over time. You can also just talk to it with no agenda at all, and send it a photo or a document if something is easier to show than describe.

Is it really free?+

Yes, and with no time limit and no card required. Sorting what you're carrying and working through it are free, and the free plan includes 100 messages with your companion. Plus is $29 a month or $290 a year, and adds unlimited messages plus the journal, mood tracking and progress insights. Whatever you decide, everything you have written stays yours and stays readable.

How do I cancel?+

Settings → Subscription → Change plan, once Plus is open. It's one screen with no retention maze. If you cancel, your loads, journal, and history stay readable and exportable — cancelling never costs you what you've written.

What if I'm in crisis right now?+

Please reach real people who can help immediately. Crisis resources are always available in the app without a subscription, and they work offline. If you're in immediate danger, call emergency services.
